Install a Shopify Theme
After purchasing a Shopify theme, the next step is installing it in your Shopify admin. The installation process depends on where you purchased the theme.
NextSky themes purchased from ThemeForest require manual upload, while themes purchased from the Shopify Theme Store can be installed directly through Shopify.
Before you start
Before installing a new theme, make sure you:
- Have access to your Shopify admin
- Downloaded the theme file (if purchased from ThemeForest)
- Keep a backup of your current live theme
- Use a desktop browser for easier setup
You can access your themes page from:
Shopify Admin → Online Store → Themes Install a theme from ThemeForest
This method applies to themes such as:
- Umino
- Glozin
These themes are downloaded as .zip files and must be uploaded manually.
Step 1: Download the installable theme file

Important tips before publishing
Backup your current theme
Before switching themes, duplicate your existing theme first.
This allows you to restore your previous design if needed.
Test apps and custom code
Some third-party Shopify apps may require reconfiguration after changing themes.
Check:
- Product reviews apps
- Wishlist apps
- Page builders
- Currency converters
- Custom Liquid code
Avoid editing the live theme immediately
It is recommended to customize and test the new theme before publishing it live.
You can safely work on unpublished themes inside the Theme Library.
Common installation issues
The zip file cannot be uploaded
Make sure:
- The file format is
.zip - You downloaded the installable theme package
- The file was not extracted before upload
The theme looks different from the demo
This is normal. Demo stores usually contain:
- Demo images
- Example products
- Custom navigation menus
- Promotional banners
You will need to configure your own content after installation.
Apps are not displaying correctly
Some apps require manual embedding inside the new theme.
Try:
Customize → App embeds
and enable the required app blocks.
